How can you find out if a Disc Jockey service or Entertainment service is qualified?
Through references, word of mouth, and even maybe visiting one of their events, Note: When hiring a band service, etc. you should be prepared to spend more money for their services.
- What is the difference between a professional DJ/MC and a personal friend?
Most times a friend just plays music around the house for his own hobby and doesn’t have enough experience in wedding receptions, dances, big events, etc. Also, keep in mind the sound quality in his or her stereo equipment may be distorted, too much bass, too much treble, and not properly equalized. Through experience, sometimes even a band’s selection of music is limited.
- Why should I choose a DJ/Mc over a band?
Some bands are limited in their music selection, and usually play about 3 or 4 sets maximum, which can last about 30 to 45 min per set. Let’s not forget they need to take brakes in between sets. As for a DJ/MC can play at least twice as much and a larger variety of music.
- What is the cost between a DJ/MC over a band?
DJ and Entertainment Services vary; the industry standard price on an average is about $100 per hr. In reference to a band, the cost can be double as much per set.
- Can I have the wedding reception outdoors?
Yes, but keep in mind there will be 3 factors to consider:
a)The weather, b) dance floor arrangements, c) power source – Note: you may have to rent a tent for the day and also a power generator which will cost about $25 to $50 a day.
- Will people dance in the early afternoon when it is daylight?
Yes, it can be difficult. Not to worry though, with the right DJ/MC there will be no problems.
- How long does a wedding reception last?
4 hours are a standard contract, but 5 to 6 hours receptions are not very uncommon.
- What type of music would be good for a wedding reception?
This is your choice, from experience, a little bit of everything would work out just fine. Note: you should always look over your guest list and choose the music that will please most of your guests.
- When can I pay for the service?
A deposit is usually required. Our service requires the balance due one week prior to the event. This will keep any misunderstanding between the client and the DJ/MC.
- Will it be necessary to perform formal introductions?
Through our experience it’s necessary for our DJ/Mc to introduce the Bridal party, formal introductions does add a great deal of class and spice.
- When we are being introduced at our wedding reception, what record or music can we listen to?
This is your special day as a Bride and Groom you may choose what you want. Please specify with your DJ/MC.
Note: your DJ/MC upon request will play for the Bride and Groom’s special love song, all others upon request.
- What is the proper ceremony order?
We have a traditional sequence in our wedding party form but rules can be changed for the order of sequence.
- Is there a proper dance sequence for the Bride and Groom?
Yes, Bride and Groom. Bride and her father. Groom and his mother. Bride’s father and Groom’s mother. Groom’s father and bride’s mother.
- Is the groom obligated to dance with someone besides his bride?
Yes, bride’s mother, maid of honor, and groom’s mother.
- What happens at the reception if other people start dancing before the Bride and Groom?
Don’t worry; the DJ/MC will make all necessary announcements to clear the dance floor prior to the Bride and Groom’s dance.
So it’s not uncommon for people to dance before the Bridal couple and Bridal party. Remember people want to celebrate too.
- When does the Toast occur?
This is done just before the cutting of the cake. The Best Man toast to the Bridal couple. Then the Maid of Honor may want to make a toast also. Other toast may be offered from both parents of the Bridal couple. Sometimes other family members or friends may want to offer a toast to the Bridal couple.
- When does the Cake cutting happen?
Many couples choose cutting of the cake after dinner. Other Bridal couples choose during the toast event.
- When should the bride’s bouquet and garter be thrown?
This is done after the cutting of the cake. An event that is exciting for all those single ladies and gents.
- What is a honeymoon dance?
It is also known as a money dance! This dance gives the guests a chance to give the Bridal couple envelops with money. The sequence can done whenever the Bridal couple chooses.
